What is Botox?
Botox is the original prescription treatment the FDA approved to temporarily improve the look of moderate to severe frown lines, crow's feet, forehead lines, and vertical bands connecting the jaw and neck (platysma bands) in adults. As a neuromodulator it relaxes the muscles that contract when we smile or frown. It can be injected into many places on the face, with a trained provider knowing exactly where and how deeply to inject, in order to achieve your desired outcome.
Tell me about lip filler.
Dermal filler can be used throughout the face to provide volume. Currently we are using it exclusively in the lips. One syringe of lip filler has the same volume as a blueberry; it should easily plump up your lips. You do not need to use the entire syringe. Again, the amount used depends on your goals.
Our injection protocol eliminates pain. Additionally, we use short and narrow needles as for insulin. The needle breaks through the skin (you will hear a "crunch"), but the needle and injection of Botox do not hurt. For the lip filler, again, our pain-free protocol coupled with a slow rate of injection speed eliminates the pain. Our goal is to make you as comfortable as possible.
Does it hurt?
How much do I need?
For a full face of wrinkle suppression, which includes frown lines (above your nose, also known as the "11's"), crow's feet (next to your eyes), and forehead lines, the manufacturer (Allergan Aesthetics) recommends 64 units. Your goals determine your treatment. For example, treating only your forehead wrinkles and frown lines would require 44 units. The effects last approximately three months.
